Welcome New Students
Welcome new and returning students and parents to NRYSC. We have alot of exciting things happening this season and it is important that everyone know what is ahead. You should have received a blue "audition handout" sometime during the last three rehearsals. If not, click here. At some point you should check out the website, so that you will be aware of all the information available to you at that resource.
Uniform Shirts
During the spring and summer seasons uniform shirts are worn for the concerts. We are also planning to wear them for the National Symphony Orchestra Concert in Charleston on April 12. With that in mind, we are ordering shirts for new students at this time. If you are a new student and you have not given Agnes Casto your size, please do so A.S.A.P. Students who have uniform shirts should make sure their shirts still fit and are in good shape, so that if you need a new shirt we can order one at this time. Uniform shirts are $20.00 each. They are required for the symphony and chorus. The Beginner Chorus students do not wear the uniform shirt.
Tuition Due on March 29. That will include the cost of uniform shirts. There is a form attached if you need it to calculate your tuition. If you have already paid your tuition, thankyou.

Rehearsal at Fayetteville Christ Fellowship
It is necessary to use an alternate rehearsal site for April 5 because the Fayette County Public School's have Spring Break. OHHS will be closed. We will meet at our regular rehearsal times. Symphony students need to bring music stands. The directions to the church are as follows:
From the South/Beckley - continue on Route 19, passing the Oyler Avenue Exit, Summerlee Road Exit, and Lochgelly Exit. You will pass the Shoney's/Krogers shopping mall on the left. At the Appalachian Drive Exit, turn right off of Route 19, go to the bottom of access road and turn left. The first road on the left is Airport/Nickleville Road. Christ Fellowship is the first driveway on the right. Look for a red metal roof.
From the North/Fayetteville - Stay on Route 19, passing the Walmart/Lowe's shopping plaza. The next exit is Appalachian Drive. Turn left off of Route 19, go to the bottom of the access road, and turn left. The first road on the left is Airport/Nickleville Road. Christ Fellowship Church is the first driveway on the right. Look for the red metal roof.
The National Symphony Orchestra will be performing at the Clay Center on Monday, April 12, at 8 PM. This is a unique opportunity for West Virginians. The NSO travels to one state each year which means it comes to WV every 50 years. In addition to providing a concert on the evening of April 12, our NRYSC symphony students will have an opportunity to rehearse on the stage of the Clay Center alongside NSO musicians and director. This clinic will begin at 5:00 PM. April 12 is a regular rehearsal evening, we are asking parents to assist us in transporting students to the Clay Center for the clinic and then the concert later in the evening. The Clay Center is providing tickets for our students to attend the evening concert. Please check your calendars and make yourselves available. We will be calling parents in the coming week to see who is able to attend and if parents would be willing to assist with carpooling students who do not have rides. More details will become available as we get closer to the clinic/concert date.
WVSO Concert
On April 16 and 17 the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra will be performing their final Symphonic Series concert. NRYSC students can attend this concert (free of charge) and we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity by using your "Student Musician Cards". If you are a new student this season and have not received your "Student Musician Card" see Kathy Bailey during Monday's rehearsal or parent meeting.
The spring season holds more exciting opportunities ahead. Take a look at your "Audition Handout", mark your calendars, practice, practice, practice, and we'll keep you posted of upcoming happenings via our "News of Note".
See you at the Parent Meeting!
